TURMERIFIC

For those of you who consider yourself well informed in the health sphere, you will be well versed on the health benefits of turmeric. However, for those of you who are yet to discover this wonder spice, let me enlighten you.

Turmeric of course has been a staple in Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian households for thousands of years. Imported from India, the orange-coloured spice is what creates the yellow colour in curries, rice’s and other aromatic dishes. In recent years however, it has made its way into the western world and health experts can’t get enough of it. Touted as the most powerful herb on the planet, this modest spice is fast becoming one of this year’s ingredient must haves.

Most notable of its fortitudes is its main component, curcumin. Research has shown that this element of the spice has proven to be able to block enzymes that promote some cancer growth! It’s also has high antioxidant properties which fight cancer-causing free radicals. AND it has been lauded as one of the most potent natural anti-inflammatories on the planet. It’s time we go on board!
