THE SWEET LIFE

Ah sugar. It tastes so good but its oh-so bad. On its own, sugar provides us with no nutrients, no protein, no healthy fats and no enzymes. It becomes empty calories causing more damage than good, so personally, I try to avoid in its processed form. Luckily there are plenty of natural options that can help curb that sweet tooth. One of my favourite go to's when I'm craving a sweet treat is the trusty banana. Added to your smoothie, the banana is a great natural sweetener. It also makes the most amazing ice-cream alternative. If you have never tried this, get around it – it's a game changer. All you need is a freezer, some bananas and a blender.

Tip #1: Brown spots on the banana peel indicate prime sweetness, because as bananas ripen, their starch is broken down into natural, healthy sugar.

Tip #2: Peel the skin off your ripe bananas before you freeze them. It will save you a lot of time and heartache

Okay, banana ice-cream is the best. It forms a smooth, creamy texture not dissimilar to a soft serve. And the great thing about this chilled desert is that there are no hidden sugars or preservatives, it’s made from natural ingredients and its super easy to make. Pop your frozen banana (1 banana is good for a small serve) into your blender, add suggested ingredients below and blend! Instant ice-cream! Check out some of my favourite combinations below:
